Tuesday

SAM_0916   The weather is still drizzly, but we are undaunted.
Our objective for today is the Brambles Cafe, Chapel Stile, Langdale, for tea and cake.

Bacon role for breakfast is eaten with relish, cleared away with unhealthy haste and then with bags packed we are away.
Around Grasmere and then Red Bank to Elterwater.
We choose to stay high on the road to Dungeon ghyll.

Although the sign say’s Co-Op, this is not part of the major group but an independent. The “Tea”  is Tetley’s but surprisingly good!
(Must be the water). The cakes however are fantastic “home made “ from granny’s recipes and apparently “The Bero Book”. We chose to sample several ……..very nice too.

Our journey back is via the quarry path to Elterwater, very nice in the summer but its raining so we have our heads down. I guess its looking forward to Loughrigg terrace.

The Village as long since died, dependant now on the tourist.

Most of the properties are second homes or rentals, the corner store/post office is closed.

The terrace half an hour later does not disappoint. The view is wonderful of the Lake, the Village and the Fells. What a joy to walk.
Then there is the squirrel to watch later.
