We wake to the view from the lounge window, awesome. Grasmere Lake with its surrounding Fells; Loughrigg and Silver Howe.  The diagonal rake which tuns left to right is Red Bank, a1 in 4 road which can be entertaining for the driver, especially when meeting another car.

After a light breakfast ( big lunch later ) We dress for the cold, wet and rough track to come. It's then off for a walk around the Lake. The Mist is still hanging over the water as we enter Penny Rock Wood. Crossing the bridge we are on the banks of Grasmere by the weir. We turn left to walk along the path that hugs the side of the lake.

The scenes around the Lake are fantastic as the mist now reveals the beautiful Fells beyond, some covered with a dusting of snow. Our journey interrupted

with many stops to take photo’s eventually brings us to Grasmere Village. Red Bank is becoming busy with tourist’s heading for the classic walk across Loughrigg Terrace and Ambleside beyond. We head back to the flat to change for lunch.

Its 8 miles to Bowness and we have a booking for  a 3 course lunch in surroundings that once was enjoyed by Henry Schneider.A steel magnate. This is his Mansion House “The Belsfield”

standing on a slight hill by the side of Lake Windermere. Now a Hotel “ Corus”, everyone can now enjoy the opulence of the dinning room for £12,95 each. The choice for all courses is second to none and enough to suite any taste.

After starters its the main course……Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and veg, for me. Lesley has a bit of every think. Oh I am full…. do I really want a pudding?

Oh go on then. Apple pie and custard, bread and butter pudding, Lemon meringue and various tarts. Then there is coffee, to finish you off! Lesley can we go home now?
